From creative directing to fashion, Jackson Wang has excelled in various fields. However, at the end of the day, it’s all about the music for him.

Three studio albums in, he continues to reinvent himself for his loyal listeners. Pushing himself to places he’s never gone before. Here are three songs of his that your playlist desperately needs!

Dopamine

Lately, I’m so caught up in the moment, I know
There’s so much in my head can’t put it down, I know
Too much on my chest, shoulders tight
Getting heavy, turn on the light

“Dopamine” features an alternative pop melody, accompanied by broad alt-rock strokes. It tells the story of someone burdened by life’s responsibilities. Seeking peace and happiness, he turns to his lover, who provides him with a much-needed spark of dopamine.

The song, off of Wang’s 2022 album MagicMan, is quite relatable. Most of us know what it’s like to become tired or depressed while trying to find our way in life. But the alt-pop tune also captures the hope found in exploring beautiful parts of life: love, poetry, music.

Just Like Magic

Calling me foolish
I’m over the moon, yeah, I want your love
A spell of confusion inside an illusion
I won’t wake up

“Just Like Magic” is pure euphoria. The song lures you in with its pop-rock sensibilities, only to switch up completely at the chorus. But you don’t mind the change, because as Wang sings, “Ooooo, just like magic…” you are taken to another plane of existence. One where music serves as the ultimate lullaby.

“Just Like Magic” is a testament to the euphoric nature of blossoming love. At times, it’s like a drug, putting a spell over those most susceptible to it.

Access

Baby got that ice tea fresh like white tee
Fly with no hype beast like me
See me goin’ up with no roof in the coupe
Hundred proof, yeah, the lifestyle pricey

Every artist has that one song. The kind that has you dancing in your seat before it even starts. It offers an experience where you don’t have to overthink things, just sit back and enjoy. That’s what “Access” provides.

The only problematic aspect of the song is that it is criminally short. Other than that, it’s sexy and smooth. The song also allows Wang to take a break from his usual introspective mood and just brag a little. And judging by what he’s been able to accomplish in his career so far, it’s very much deserved.
