With all the book-to-screen adaptations coming out, it can be hard to keep track of them. But don’t fret, I’ve created a guide for some of the biggest projects making their way to your screens soon!
Wicked: For Good (November 23, 2025)
The sequel to 2024’s smash hit, Wicked, will hit theaters on November 23, 2025. Just in time for Thanksgiving weekend. The films are loosely based on Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, the 1995 novel written by author Gregory Maguire. The book’s material was used as the foundation for the hit broadway musical, Wicked, originally starring Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenowith.
Wicked: For Good follows Elphaba in a life of exile after being deceived by the Wizard of Oz. As Glinda lives a live of fame and riches in the Emerald City, Elphaba will need to reunite with her long-lost friend in order to change herself, and Oz, for good.
The film stars include Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum.
Hamnet (November 27, 2025)
Hamnet, starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal, is set to debut in theaters this Thanksgiving.
The film is adapted from the best selling historical fiction novel of the same name by Maggie O’Farrell. It reimagines the life of William Shakespeare, and focuses on the grief of his wife, Agnes, after the death of their son, Hamnet. In the book, the boy’s death serves as the inspiration for Hamlet.
Heated Rivalry (November 28, 2025)
If you loved the novel version of Heated Rivalry, you are in for a treat this November! The YA book, written by author Rachel Reid, is getting a TV series adaptation based directly on the book series. Set to debut on November 24 on the Canadian streaming platform, Crave, Heated Rivalry stars Hudson Williams as Shane Hollander and Connor Storrie as Ilya Rozanov.
The series follows two rival hockey superstars as they unexpectedly develop feelings for one another while trying to navigate their professional lives.
In addition to the Heated Rivalry storyline, the show might also explore storylines from Reid’s follow-up books in the Game Changers series.
People We Meet on Vacation (January 2026)
Netflix is adapting Emily Henry’s 2021 novel People We Meet on Vacation. The book follows best friends Poppy and Alex who meet every year for a vacation. Everything is fine until an incident happens that causes the two to stop speaking to each other for two years. Poppy, resolving to repair her friendship with Alex, invites him out for a vacation that will may very well change their lives forever.
The film, starring Emily Bader and Tom Blyth as Poppy and Alex, respectively, will be available to stream sometime in January 2026.
